The book Ella Enchanted is about a girl who had a spell cast on her when she was a baby. At only a few minutes old Lucinda, a fairy whose spells were dreaded by people all around, came to Ella’s house and sees that Ella is crying. “Ella shall be obedient,” she said and touched Ella’s nose. “Stop crying child,” she said. Ella stopped. That started the worst trouble Ella could have. Later at age 15 Ella runs away from finishing school and encounters ogres, giants, fairies and evil stuff. 4th and 3rd graders might like this book.
